5 benefits of walking to school when you live in the city

October is International Walk To School Month, a campaign set up by UK charity Living Streets. Their mission is to increase the number of students who walk to school. The campaign is aimed at school-age children, but we believe it should include anyone who is still in education! So, taking your child to their primary school or going to university, we have some great reasons for you to walk more!

We know that walking to school when you live in the big city might not always be possible, but with all the amazing benefits it provides, we should all try and do it as often as we can.

Our 5 benefits are:

  • Walking reduces the traffic and helps to reduce congestion and pollution, and we know exactly how important it is when you live in the city
  • It supports natural habitats and animals everywhere by reducing carbon emissions
  • Walking increases your and the children’s sense of well-being and provides an opportunity to build strong bonds in the community and enjoy increased social interaction
  • It helps children become more aware of their surroundings, help them become independent and learn the route for when they are old enough to do it on their own

We hope these benefits can encourage you to walk to school this month – we know we definitely will. Even in our lovely every changing British weather!

And if you are looking into purchasing a property and want to know which schools are in the area, go to the Ofsted reports page and find best schools around! You can also have a look at properties we have available here.
